Barack Obama Sr. poses with his son in the Honolulu airport during
Obama Sr.'s only visit to see his son while he was growing up in
Hawaii. Obama wrote poignantly about this visit in his memoir,
remembering the basketball his father gave him, the African records
they danced to, the Dave Brubeck concert they attended. Obama, then
10, never saw his father again. He was a Kenyan senior governmental
economist.

July 22, 2004: Barack teaching at the University of Chicago law
school. Obama arrived in Chicago in 1985 with a college degree, a
map of the city and a new job as a community organiser, only to
move on a few years later to Harvard law school. When he returned
to Chicago, he joined a small civil rights firm, ran a voter
registration drive, and lectured on constitutional law at the
University of Chicago law school.
